We are pretty excited here on the farm, one of our chickens has laid our first egg.
Which solves two mysteries. One, the gender of Lucy here.
Obviously, this confirms she is a hen, and secondly I had suspected she was an Easter Egger. The colour of her eggs confirms this. And yes, I said eggs. She gave me not one, but two! One after the other! Is that normal?!
That can happen, yep. But then look for her to take an elongated break after that. Every time one of my girls started production with a bang like that, it meant that I'd go a week without an egg. Then their cycle would even out. The ones who lay one, wait a day or two, then lay another from the get-go are usually the ones who become more consistant over time without a stop.
Just my observations, though. You might get lucky and she might just be a powerhouse!

I live a very simple life on a small hobby farm along with my husband, three kids, and an assortment of animals. Life may be simple but I love every minute of it.
