My Journey
All my life I've wanted to live in the country on a hobby farm with horses and an assortment of animals, and my dreams have finally come true. A dream shared with the rest of my family, especially my middle child who was born a farmer's daughter even though her dad was a butcher. She has loved animals ever since I can remember and when she landed her first part-time job she saved her money and bought her first horse. That was four years ago. But it was the purchase of that horse that changed our lives forever. We (actually me) was under the belief that kind of lifestyle was out of reach. I was born and bred in the city and that was where I would remain, even though my heart belonged in the country. I rode horses whenever I could as a teenager, even took lessons, but the idea of owning a horse also belonged in that category of never going to happen. Even if I could afford to buy a horse, what did I know about horsekeep? Up until then all I knew about them was the pure joy and exhilaration I got when riding on their backs. But the purchase of that horse changed everything. Suddenly, she made us believe that our dreams could come true. That we are not prisoners of a life set out for us. We can be and do anything we wanted. That horse's name was Freedom. Three years later my daughter purchased her first barrel horse to pursue her dream of competing in the racing circuit. We named him Chase. So in honour of these two horses that taught us to believe and pursue your dreams, we have named our farm Chasing Freedom Farm.
Our first little hobby farm was basically a small country house with an old beat up shed for a barn. Many lessons were learned in that shed and we endured one of the harshest winters ever there. Since then we have moved on to a larger property with a bigger barn and lots of room to roam. Since we now have the space we have decided to add to our animal family. As that family grows I will post updates and photos here on the website. I'm also a huge photo addict and love snappng photos. You can see some of those photos I've taken around the farm on the photo gallery page.
Thanks for dropping by and hope you enjoy your visit!
