My oldest has now started referring me as the crazy chicken lady. And for good reason. I love my chickens.
My Chanteclers are my current favourite.
They are the only birds that fly out of the coop when we come to visit and love to perch on our arms or shoulders. Even our heads. And they are the only bird that hasn't pecked at me.
I love them so much I've ordered 3 more from our breeder. They are from the same hatch as ours so they will fit in nicely. The girl in the photo above is my middle child, my animal crazy future farmer daughter. Also known as crazy chicken lady #2 by my oldest. After I bought my chickens, she too fell in love with them and expressed an interest in raising a flock of her own. So guess what we did yesterday?
Yep, brought home more chicks. Some adorable day olds for my daughter.
This black Ameraucana is my favourite. Can't wait for her blue eggs. Then while we were there, I noticed he had some older birds about the same age as mine. Some partridge rocks and some gorgeous brahmas.
And since I can't resist colour, I brought some home with me. That makes 11 chicks in the big brooder and 6 in the small brooder and with 3 more on the way, we will have a lovely even number of 20 chicks.
I TOLD you they were addictive! Welcome to the club! :)

I live a very simple life on a small hobby farm along with my husband, three kids, and an assortment of animals. Life may be simple but I love every minute of it.
